JHCA Dinner and picnic related - Monday, July 12, 2010

JHCA Canada Day Picnic and Sports successfully concluded

On Canada Day (July 01, 2010), we held our annual sports day/picnic for JHCA members and their families to enjoy.  Included among the events was a game of cricket between our college and Hardley college.  It was an intense game, and both teams gave it their all; JHC scored 101 with 6 wickets in 30 overs, and Hardley won the game in 25 overs, having scored 102 with 8 wickets.

While that was going on, our junior members were playing exhausting soccer games against the Cheetahs Soccer Club (under 10 years of age) and Seelan Rangers Soccer Club (under 12 years of age). At the same time, the JHC family netball team played an exciting game against the Ladies College team.  There were amazing plays on both sides and many shots were scored.

All in all, our sports day/picnic has been a great success and everyone seems to have really enjoyed themselves. The event brought over 200 of us to Sunnybrook Park, and hopefully we will have similar successes in the years to come.

We want to thank Dr. Annandakumer for volunteering his time and energy for this glorious event. We would also like to thank all the volunteers for their hard work and dedication, as well as all the caterers and the sponsors for their help. We are all very appreciative of all members and their families for their support and involvement.

JHCA Canada Dinner 2010 - A great success

Dr. S.Raveendran, Dentist and an old boy of Jaffna Hindu College was the Chief Guest of the event. The dinner included fun programs and entertainment for kids and adults. We thank all from JHC community in Canada who made this event a success through their contribution and to the executive committee members and other old boys who put in hard work in selling tickets and getting sponsorships.

A part of the proceeds from this dinner will be directed towards educational projects of needy students at the JHC in Jaffna. We appreciate and are grateful to the generosity of the dinner participants, and the members who bought tickets to contribute financially to JHC but could not attend the dinner.
